Transitioning Through Divorce: Grieving the Loss of Marriage
Transitioning Through Divorce: Grieving the Loss of Marriage

You probably didn’t enter into the sacred contract of marriage thinking that it would one day be broken. But sometimes, for reasons that may or may not be within your control, divorce is the path you must take.
Whether your divorce feels like a battlefield or more amicable, and whether you’re blindsided or choose to separate intentionally, divorce can leave you feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, lost, grieving, and unsure of how to move forward.
I’m Mary Joye, a licensed professional counselor and family court mediator, and my own divorce propelled me to both of these careers in midlife.
Divorce isn’t just breaking up — it’s a breaking down of your body, mind, and spirit.
Yet I know from professional, clinical, and personal experience that no matter how challenging the process of your divorce may be, you can learn to love your new life and emerge with more purpose and power than ever.
I created this 10-part course to make divorce a less painful process and to help you build your life back up again.
In this series of self-paced lessons, you’ll engage your body as well as your mind to move through divorce with greater personal empowerment: Techniques based in neuroscience help you recover more quickly, mindfully, and powerfully. Nervous-system support helps you shift your fight-flight-freeze stress responses. Cognitive behavioral therapy tools soothe negative thoughts and emotions. And illuminating meditations and powerful journaling exercises help you become better — not bitter — from divorce.
This course is divided into three phases to further your individualized healing journey:
#1: Survive: Honor the sacred grieving process needed for divorce, gain an understanding of the physiological reactivity of your fight-flight-freeze-collapse stress response, and learn how to self-regulate.
#2: Revive: Shift from being hyperfocused on your divorce to moving forward with clarity and confidence, and learn how reframing and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques can support your process.
#3: Thrive: Clear emotional and tangible baggage, release fears of loneliness and dating, and emerge happier, freer, and ready to love and live.
Divorce can be traumatic and chaotic, with intense feelings of anger, shame, grief, displacement, despondency, loneliness, devastation, and desperation for new love. But it doesn’t have to be all-consuming. You can get back into living and loving well — sooner than you think.
This course will help if you:
No matter what stage of a divorce you’re in, don’t put off living your best life. Every ending can be a beautiful new beginning.
