DailyOM: How can we heal ourselves by touching our feet?
Suzanne: Foot reflexology is an ancient practice that people have used for thousands of years to harness the power within themselves to heal. A microcosm (mini version) of our whole body exists within our feet in the form of points or reflexes that can be activated and triggered.
Nature has created us this way to send and receive signals from our body and environment, connect us with our surroundings and keep us healthy, balanced, and in harmony with the universe. The more we practice self-reflexology, the greater our physical-energetic connection as well as our appreciation for our bodies.
DailyOM: What are some examples of health issues that can be supported with foot reflexology?
Suzanne: Reflexology is safe and non-invasive (we just use our fingers to activate reflexes!) and is suitable for all ages and stages of life. A gentle touch can be just as effective as a deeper one, as reflexology is less of a massage and more of a treatment for our entire nervous system. And it feels just as great!
Reflexology naturally relieves pain and nerve impulses, improves digestion, stimulates the immune system, balances hormones, and detoxifies the body. This can be supportive for issues like stress and mental health, mood, chronic pain, fatigue, sleep, digestive issues, cold and virus symptoms, fluid retention, autoimmune conditions, and more!
